August 12th

On this day in 1981, IBM unveiled their first Personal Computer.

Created in secret in Florida, this machine had 16 kilobytes of memory and two 160kb floppy disk drives. – A very different image from today’s tablets and Macbook Airs.

Humanity’s ability to create this technology has grown so immensely in the 22 years since this was first released. Maybe it’s a good day for us all to contemplate the role that technology plays in our lives, and where the technology is taking us.
